NetEase Cloud Music's overall rankings and music rankings in Apple's App Store have been steadily improving in recent years. In the first half of 2017, NetEase Cloud Music topped the music chart several times. The top of the category, perhaps due to copyright reasons, has since declined slightly and has been stable at the third place. In February 2018, the news that NetEase shared copyright with QQ Music and obtained all the Buy email list copyrights of Huayan Music seems to let us see the hope of NetEase Cloud Music reaching the top again.
However, the major update to version 5.0 on March 9th received perhaps the worst feedback in cloud music history. Before writing this article, I chatted with my roommates about the latest update. They didn't seem to feel anything. In order to avoid the embarrassment that only I thought this update was bad, I went to the Internet to find the data.
We can judge whether this update is bad or not from the following two aspects.
1.1 App Store ranking
It can be seen that both the total list and the application ranking have shown a clear downward trend within a day or two after the release of the new version on March 9.
In the music rankings, it only dropped from the third place to the fourth place, and the decrease was not large, indicating that the lost users have all moved to the platforms at the top of the charts.
It can also be seen from the rise in the overall rankings of QQ Music and Kugou Music after March 9.
1.2 App Ratings and User Reviews
As you can see from the figure below, after the new version was released on March 9, the one-star rating increased sharply.
The same goes for user reviews, although there is a growing trend in positive reviews, the sudden burst of negative reviews is more pronounced.
In addition, on Zhihu, someone asked a question specifically for version 5.0. This question has nearly 900 followers and more than 80W views. Most of the high-voted answers in it are negative comments, and many of them are teaching you how to Go back to the old version.
